The Botanist

The Botanist is a premium gin produced in the picturesque Isle of Islay, Scotland. Crafted by the Bruichladdich Distillery, this gin is a tribute to the island's rich botanical heritage and the unique terroir of this remote location.

The Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its award-winning whiskies, but they have also made a name for themselves in the world of gin with The Botanist. The distillery was founded in 1881 and has a long history of producing quality spirits. However, it was not until 2010 that they ventured into the world of gin with the release of The Botanist. The name of the gin is a nod to the distillery's location on the Rhinns of Islay, which is known as "The Botanist's Isle" due to its rich diversity of plant life.

What sets The Botanist apart from other gins is its unique blend of 22 hand-foraged botanicals, all sourced from the island itself. These botanicals include juniper, coriander, angelica root, and lemon peel, as well as more unusual ingredients such as mugwort, elderflower, and chamomile. The botanicals are hand-picked by a team of foragers who carefully select each ingredient to create a perfectly balanced and complex gin.

The Isle of Islay is also known for its pristine water supply, which is crucial in the production of The Botanist. The water used in the distillation process is sourced from the nearby Octomore Spring, which is known for its purity and softness.

The production of The Botanist is a labor of love, and each batch is still distilled in a traditional copper pot still known as Ugly Betty. This unique still allows for a slow and gentle distillation process, resulting in a smooth and aromatic gin.

The Botanist has received numerous accolades, including being named "World's Best Gin
