Château Lafite Rothschild has a long and rich history dating back to the 17th century when it was owned by the Ségur family. In 1868, the estate was purchased by Baron James de Rothschild, a member of the famous Rothschild banking family, and has remained in the family ever since. Today, it is owned by Baron Eric de Rothschild and is managed by his niece, Saskia de Rothschild.

The estate covers over 100 hectares of land, with the majority of the vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. The remaining land is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Château Lafite Rothschild has a strict and meticulous approach to winemaking, with a focus on producing wines that truly reflect the terroir of the Pauillac region. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is used in the production of their wines.

Château Lafite Rothschild is best known for its Grand Vin, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. This wine is only produced in exceptional vintages and is aged in French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months. The result is a wine that is elegant, complex, and well-structured, with notes of blackcurrant, cedar, and tobacco.
