Mortlach

Mortlach is a renowned producer of single malt Scotch whisky, located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. Known for its robust and complex flavor profile, Mortlach has gained a cult-like following among whisky enthusiasts around the world.

The Mortlach distillery was founded in 1823 by James Findlater, Donald Mackintosh and Alexander Gordon, making it one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. The distillery's location was chosen for its proximity to the River Dullan, which provided an abundant supply of fresh water for the production of whisky.

Mortlach is best known for its unique distillation process, which involves using a combination of three stills instead of the usual two. This triple distillation process, known as the "2.8 times" method, results in a heavier, more full-bodied whisky with a distinct meaty and spicy character.

The region of Speyside, where Mortlach is located, is often referred to as the "whisky capital of the world." This small area in the Scottish Highlands is home to over half of the country's distilleries and is known for producing some of the world's most famous and award-winning single malts.

Mortlach's range includes a variety of expressions, from its signature 16-year-old bottling to limited edition releases and special cask finishes. Each whisky is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile.

In addition to its exceptional single malt whiskies, Mortlach also produces a range of blended whiskies, including the popular Johnnie Walker Black Label. These blends incorporate Mortlach's single malt as a key component, showcasing the distillery's renowned flavor profile.

At Onshore Cellars, we are proud to offer a selection of Mortlach single malt whiskies to our customers. Whether you are a seasoned whisky connoisseur or new to the world of
