Dal Forno Romano

A project that is more generational than entrepreneurial in nature, more typical of a family than a run-of-the-mill business, Romano Dal Forno founded the winery which has borne his name since the first vintage in 1983. His sons Luca, Michele, and Marco alternate in their respective roles with the freedom to pursue each and every idea with the spirit of freedom, while respecting strict requirements for processing, production, and marketing. It is in the cellar that the painstaking pursuit of quality comes close to a fixation, for a wine to bear the Dal Forno Romano name. The brothers along with their father, are both brain and brawn, ingenuity and commitment. The combination of four bold and distinct personalities results in a quite balanced alchemy that is typical of a great team.
Set in the heavenly Valley of Illasi, proof of the bond between man and nature. The hills surrounded by cypress trees, benefit from ample air flow and beautiful sunshine perfect for Corvina, Corvinone, Croatina, Oseleta and Rondinella grape varieties. Lodoletta, a flatter area midway down the valley you will find the Dal Forno Romano winery.

Valpolicella Superiore
Valpolicella is a wine district in north-eastern Italy, in the province of Verona. The main grape variety in Valpolicella is Corvina, an Italian grape native to the region, to which other local grape varieties are added to increase the colour and tannins. Valpolicella wines can carry the label Superiore if they are at least 12% alcohol and have undergone at least one year of aging.
Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore is made from of blend of grapes including Corvina, Rondinella, Coratina and Oseleta, left to air dry for 45 days. After rigorous quality control, pressing, and fermentation processes the wine is left to age for 24 long months, after which the wine is filtered and bottled and left for another 36 months before the final product is ready for sale.

“Was a more impressive table wine than this made anywhere in the world in 2011? I doubt it. Impeccable in almost every detail.” 98 Points, Andrew Jefford, Decantar.

“The hard work of our ancestors makes us proud of what we are today.” Michele Dal Forno

“We don’t have to invent anything. Nature provides us with all the tips we need. All we have to do is learn to listen to and respect it.” Marco Dal Forno
