Château La Fleur de Boüard

Château La Fleur de Boüard

Château La Fleur de Boüard is a red wine estate located in Lalande-de-Pomerol, on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The property is associated with Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, who is also co-owner of Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Angélus, and the estate reflects a similar focus on quality-driven viticulture applied to this lesser-known but capable appellation.

Lalande-de-Pomerol sits immediately north of Pomerol, separated by the Barbanne stream. The appellation shares many of the same clay and gravel soils that characterise its famous neighbour, and it produces exclusively red wines built primarily on Merlot, often blended with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines from this appellation tend to be generous and supple, with plum and dark fruit character and a softer tannic structure than wines from the Médoc.

The estate works with the classic Right Bank blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2018 vintage was a particularly strong year across Bordeaux, delivering concentrated, ripe fruit with good natural balance, and is widely regarded as one of the better recent Right Bank vintages.
