Caroni

The Caroni Distillery was established in 1918 in Trinidad, initially part of the Caroni Sugar Estate. It became known for producing high-ester, full-bodied rums, especially favored by the British Navy. The Trinidadian government took full control in 1975, but the distillery struggled financially and was closed in 2003. In 2004, aging rum stocks were discovered and released, leading to the resurgence of Caroni rums, which are now highly valued by collectors.
