Maison Frapin is a cognac house based in the Charente region of France, producing cognac exclusively from grapes grown in the Grande Champagne cru. The estate operates both as a vineyard owner and distiller, maintaining direct control over the entire production process from grape cultivation through to final bottling. Founded by Pierre Frapin, the house has remained family-owned through multiple generations, with the Frapin family cultivating vineyards in the heart of the Grande Champagne appellation for centuries.

Grande Champagne represents the premier cru of the Cognac region, distinguished by its chalky soils that impart exceptional finesse and aging potential to the resulting eaux-de-vie. Cognacs from this area are known for their elegant, floral character and remarkable longevity, often requiring extended aging periods to reach full maturity. The region's terroir produces cognacs with distinctive minerality and complexity, particularly when distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes, which constitute the overwhelming majority of plantings in the area.

The current range includes their Heritage VSOP, crafted entirely from Ugni Blanc grapes. This expression represents the house style of Grande Champagne cognac, showcasing the grape variety's ability to develop nuanced flavors through careful distillation and oak aging. The VSOP designation indicates a minimum aging period of four years, though Grande Champagne cognacs typically benefit from longer maturation to fully express their terroir characteristics.
