The Tenuta delle Terre Nere 2022 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo is one of the best single-vineyard wines from this productive and visionary Italian producer. This famous vineyard is located at an altitude of 700 metres and has brooding, ashy volcanic soils that offer the best conditions for cultivation. This wine indeed shows dusty, ashy tones on the nose and beautiful wild fruits and dark cherries at the core. The wine is open and structured with a bright or polished feel.
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is a pioneering producer on Mount Etna, crafting wines that express the volcanic terroir of Sicily's most celebrated region. The estate focuses on Nerello Mascalese, the native red grape of Etna DOC, which thrives in the mineral-rich soils surrounding Europe's highest active volcano. This commitment to varietal purity and terroir-driven winemaking has established the producer as a benchmark for modern Etna reds.
San Lorenzo is a structured, medium-bodied expression of Nerello Mascalese that showcases the bright acidity and elegant complexity characteristic of Etna's high-altitude vineyards. The wine balances finesse with depth, offering the freshness and mineral tension that define the region's finest offerings. Its dry profile and medium intensity make it remarkably versatile at the table.
This Etna Rosso pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine, grilled fish, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses. It is equally compelling as an aperitif wine or as an elegant companion to fine dining experiences aboard yachts or in private dining settings.
