Tasting notes

Bright golden-straw in the glass, this Pinot Grigio opens with ripe pear, yellow apple and white peach, layered with hints of almond blossom, citrus zest and a subtle mineral note. The palate is full and rounded yet lively, with juicy orchard fruit, a touch of honeyed richness and fresh alpine acidity that keeps everything in balance. Its generous body is supported by a silky texture and gentle savory depth. The finish is long and clean, with lingering notes of stone fruit, bitter almond and crisp minerality.

About this wine

St. Michael-Eppan - Sanct Valentin - Pinot Grigio - Alto Adige DOC

Sanct Valentin Pinot Grigio is made by St. Michael-Eppan in the Alto Adige DOC, in the Italian Alps of Trentino Alto-Adige. It is a single-variety white, with an abv of 14.5%.

Bright golden-straw in the glass, it opens with ripe pear, yellow apple and white peach, with almond blossom, citrus zest and a subtle mineral note. The palate is full and rounded but lively: juicy orchard fruit, a touch of honeyed richness and a silky texture, held in balance by fresh alpine acidity. The finish is long and clean, with stone fruit, bitter almond and a crisp, mineral close.

St. Michael-Eppan makes this from Pinot Grigio alone. Alto Adige's mountain setting typically brings cool nights and bright daytime sun, which favours ripeness without losing freshness. The result is a wine that is generous in body yet kept lively by its alpine acidity.

It suits shellfish, mushrooms, green vegetables and salads, and it holds its own against tapas and small plates.
