Tasting notes

Part of the Hill-Smith dynasty that includes Yalumba, this straw-hued Eden Valley Riesling is testament to winemaker Louisa Rose’s passion for the variety. In Eden’s typical fruit-forward fashion, the nose is a restrained yet attractive combo of ripe peach, tangerine and waxy citrus fruit, with soft floral and herbal nuances. The palate is broad and mouth filling but not creamy. Instead it’s a precise balance of lifted acidity, chalky texture and concentrated fruit.

About this wine

Pewsey Vale is a renowned producer of Riesling wines in the Eden Valley region of Australia. The winery has a rich history dating back to 1847 when the first vines were planted in the region. The vineyard was named after the Pewsey Vale railway station, which was built in the 1860s and served as a hub for the local wine industry.

The Eden Valley region is known for its cool climate, which is ideal for growing Riesling grapes. The grapes are grown on the slopes of the Eden Valley, which provides excellent drainage and exposure to the sun. The soil in the region is also unique, with a high content of slate and shale, which gives the wines a distinct mineral character.

Pewsey Vale is committed to producing high-quality Riesling wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Eden Valley. The winery uses traditional winemaking techniques, including hand-picking the grapes and fermenting them in stainless steel tanks. The wines are then aged on lees for several months to enhance their complexity and depth.

Pewsey Vale produces several different styles of Riesling, including dry, off-dry, and sweet wines. The dry Rieslings are crisp and refreshing, with notes of citrus and green apple. The off-dry wines have a touch of sweetness, which balances the acidity and adds complexity to the wine. The sweet wines are rich and luscious, with notes of honey and apricot.

Overall, Pewsey Vale is a top producer of Riesling wines in the Eden Valley region of Australia. The winery's commitment to quality and traditional winemaking techniques has resulted in wines that are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world. Whether you prefer dry, off-dry, or sweet Rieslings, Pewsey Vale has a wine that will suit your taste.

If you're looking for a unique and flavorful Riesling, look no further than Pewsey Vale. With its commitment to quality and traditional winemaking techniques, you can be sure that you're getting a wine that truly reflects the terroir of the Eden Valley.
