Medium-pale yellow with hints of green. Pink grapefruit – mandarine peel – slightly iodized – slight reduction from the terroir – spicy and peppery Fine salinity. Very dense with elegant strength. A very pure, radiant and precise wine. Smooth.
The most youthfully reserved wine in the cellar was the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a promising bottling that opens to reveal scents of citrus zest, dried white flowers, green apple, and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered, and multidimensional, with racy acids and prodigious levels of searingly chalky dry extract that lend this wine incredible structure.
The 2013 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a lifted bouquet with scents of clear honey, yellow plum, and limestone, linear in a Puligny style. The palate is clean and fresh with touches of spice on the entry. There is good weight in the mouth, crisp and almost terse toward the finish, with a pleasant saline note on the aftertaste. This is a fine Corton-Charlemagne.
Produced from purchased grapes, the 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is serious and structured, enforcing a change of pace after the series of Puligny-Montrachet grands crus. Mingling notes of pear and citrus oil with hints of toasted bread, white flowers, and praline, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny, and chalky, with palpable structuring dry extract and tangy balancing acids.

Yes, it is home to some of the most expensive wines in the known universe, but there are also tasty and affordable wines.

Main grapes:

Pinot Noir originated in Burgundy and these vines cover 34% of the region, accounting for 29% of overall wine production. The red grape does extremely well in limestone and clay soil, which helps create their complexity. Pinot Noir wines from Burgundy range in colour from cherry to brick, are light in body, and typically have red fruit and spicy flavours. Gamay is a red grape also grown in Burgundy, but only makes up 10% of the vines.

Chardonnay is the primary grape for white wines in Burgundy, making up 48% of the vines and 68% of production. Chardonnay appreciates Burgundy’s marl soil, which gives it delicate floral, fruit, and mineral aromas and full-bodied flavours.
