Domaine Ghislain Kohut is a small producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of Burgundy's most prestigious communes in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine focuses on still wines, primarily Pinot Noir from the village and surrounding appellations, alongside a small production of white wine from Aligote.
Gevrey-Chambertin is distinguished by its clay-limestone soils and cool continental climate, conditions that favor the production of structured, age-worthy Pinot Noirs with considerable depth and complexity. The commune is home to numerous grand cru and premier cru vineyards, and village-level wines from the area typically display the darker fruit characteristics and mineral backbone characteristic of northern Burgundy's finest expressions.
The current range reflects work across three distinct Burgundian appellations: Gevrey-Chambertin village wines, the lighter Marsannay rouge, and Bourgogne Aligoté. This selection demonstrates engagement with both the signature red wines of the northern Côte de Nuits and the traditional white wine of Burgundy's Aligote grape, which in the region's cooler sites can achieve considerable freshness and mineral precision.
