Tasting notes

Six months of ageing transform pure fruit into complex poetry: wild flowers and hawthorn meet wisteria and lavender, Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary and thyme intertwine with ripe pineapple notes and the mineral echo of the Pietra Focaia. The full power of this pioneering work unfolds on the palate: dry and lively, with silky richness and aromatic depth, leading to a long, persistent final, rich in salty minerality and elegant roundness. A Vermentino that has not only told the story of Capichera for many years, but also epitomises modern Sardinian viticulture itself.

About this wine

Capichera's Vermentino di Gallura DOCG comes from Sardinia's Gallura zone, where granite soils and maritime air shape a variety that can otherwise turn flat and simple elsewhere. Here it is made with real ambition, giving a white with genuine concentration and structure rather than a beach-side quaffer.

At 14.5% abv it carries weight and texture alongside its citrus and herbal lift, with a saline, almost bitter-almond finish. Serve at 10-12°C with shellfish, white fish, green vegetables, salads or a spread of tapas and small plates on deck.
