The 2019 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch opens with opulent scents of pineapple upside-down cake, green mango and ripe apricots with hints of candied ginger, brioche, allspice and toasted almonds. The rich, creamy-textured palate is laden with tropical fruit and juicy peach flavors, supported by a racy backbone and finishes long and spicy. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)

The 2017 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch is a little closed to begin, revealing notions of warm apricots, apple tart and poached pears plus suggestions of pie crust, crystallized ginger, and marzipan. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a racy line cutting through the intense flavours, finishing long and creamy.

The fruit is a little subdued on the 2016 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch, sporting cedar and toasty notions over delicate green mango, guava, and beeswax scents. Full-bodied with a pleasantly oily texture, it has a lively line cutting through the tropical flavours and gives a toasty finish.

Californië is een regio die bekend staat om zijn wijnproductie. De staat heeft een lange geschiedenis van wijnproductie, die teruggaat tot de 18e eeuw toen Spaanse missionarissen voor het eerst wijnstokken aanplantten in het gebied. Vandaag de dag is Californië de thuisbasis van enkele van de beroemdste wijnproducenten ter wereld, waaronder Napa Valley en Sonoma County.

Een van de bekendste wijnproducenten in Californië is Robert Mondavi Winery. Het wijnhuis is opgericht in 1966, ligt in het hart van Napa Valley en staat bekend om zijn Cabernet Sauvignon en Chardonnay van hoge kwaliteit.
