Santiago Ruiz Albarino

Santiago Ruiz is a renowned Spanish winery located in the Rias Baixas region, known for producing exceptional Albariño wines. The winery was founded in 1984 by Santiago Ruiz, a visionary winemaker who was determined to showcase the unique qualities of the Albariño grape in the Galician region.

Located in the small town of San Martiño de Meis, Santiago Ruiz winery is situated in the heart of the Salnés Valley, which is considered the birthplace of Albariño. The winery's vineyards are spread over 35 hectares of land, with an ideal microclimate for producing high-quality Albariño grapes. The vineyards are planted on granite soils, which lend a distinctive mineral character to the wines.

Santiago Ruiz Albariño is the flagship wine of the winery and is considered one of the best examples of this grape varietal. It is a blend of 70% Albariño, 15% Loureiro, 10% Treixadura, and 5% Godello, all hand-harvested from the estate's vineyards. This unique blend results in a complex and elegant wine with intense aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits, and tropical notes.

The winemaking process at Santiago Ruiz is a combination of traditional and modern techniques, with a strong focus on sustainability. The grapes are hand-selected and gently pressed to preserve their delicate flavors. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel tanks, preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit.

Apart from their flagship Albariño, Santiago Ruiz also produces other varieties such as O Rosal, a blend of Albariño, Loureiro, and Treixadura, and Santiago Ruiz Rosal, a rosé wine made from the same blend of grapes. Both these wines exhibit the same high quality and distinct character as their Albariño.
