The 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine (Maison Louis Jadot) is the last rendition of this cuvée, and it has turned out very well, offering up aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, warm spices and orange rind. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with an open-knit but nicely delineated profile, concluding with a stony finish.
Louis Jadot's Clos de la Commaraine is a Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Pommard, in the Côte de Beaune. The Clos is a historic walled vineyard, and Jadot bottles it as a distinct, single-site wine within its Burgundy portfolio, reflecting Pommard's reputation for sturdier, more structured reds than its neighbours.
Expect firm tannins, dark cherry fruit and an earthy, savoury edge typical of the appellation. Serve at 16-18°C, giving it time to open, and pour alongside roasted or braised meats where its structure and depth have something to push against.
