Tasting notes

Starting with thick concentration and inky darkness, the Luciano Sandrone 2021 Barbera d'Alba has cooked fruit aromas and some savory tones too, such as leather, spice and a hint of dusty licorice root. The style is big, and this wine is conventional with big juicy sensations. It's all very elaborate for a Barbera d'Alba, but we are talking about a vintage that naturally delivers extra concentration. Production is 25,000 bottles.

About this wine

Luciano Sandrone is one of Piedmont's most respected winemakers, celebrated for crafting elegant, age-worthy wines from the region's finest terroirs. Based in Barolo country, Sandrone brings meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of traditional winemaking to every bottle.

This Barbera d'Alba DOC showcases the concentrated character and medium-bodied structure that define quality Barbera from Piedmont. Made from Nebbiolo grapes in the Alba denomination, the wine displays notes of cooked fruit, liquorice, and spice, hallmarks of the region's mineral-rich soils and continental climate. The medium acidity provides balance and food-friendliness, making it an excellent choice for pairing with rich pasta dishes, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.

Luciano Sandrone's commitment to quality extends from vineyard to cellar, resulting in wines of remarkable depth and sophistication. This Barbera d'Alba represents exceptional value for a wine of such caliber, suitable for both immediate enjoyment and careful cellaring.
