About this bitters
Angostura Cocoa Bitters is a unique and versatile addition to any cocktail enthusiast's collection. Produced by the world-renowned Angostura brand, which has been crafting high-quality bitters since 1824, these cocoa bitters are a testament to the brand's commitment to excellence.
The history of Angostura dates back to the early 19th century, when Dr. Johann Siegert, a German surgeon, settled in the town of Angostura (now Ciudad Bolivar) in Venezuela. He began experimenting with local herbs and spices to create a medicinal tonic that would help alleviate stomach ailments. This tonic eventually evolved into the now-famous Angostura bitters, which quickly gained popularity among sailors and other seafarers as a cure for seasickness.
Over the years, Angostura has expanded its product line to include a range of bitters, rums, and other spirits. The brand's commitment to quality and innovation has earned it a loyal following among bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world.
Angostura Cocoa Bitters is a relatively new addition to the brand's lineup, but it has already made a name for itself as a must-have ingredient for any chocolate or coffee-based cocktail. Made with the finest cocoa beans from Trinidad and Tobago, these bitters add a rich, complex flavour to any drink.
The production process for Angostura Cocoa Bitters begins with the careful selection of the cocoa beans. The beans are roasted to bring out their natural flavour and aroma, then crushed and steeped in alcohol to extract their essence. The resulting liquid is then blended with a secret recipe of herbs and spices to create the final product.
The flavour profile of Angostura Cocoa Bitters is complex and multi-layered, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and spice. It pairs well with a variety of spirits, including rum, whiskey, and vodka, and can be used to add depth and complexity to classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan.
Overall, Angostura Cocoa Bitters is a high-quality, versatile ingredient that is sure to impress even the most discerning cocktail connoisseur. Whether you're a professional bartender or a home mixologist,
