Querciabella

Querciabella is a Tuscan wine estate located in the Chianti Classico region, though they also produce wines under the broader Toscana IGT designation. The estate has been practicing biodynamic viticulture for decades and is known for combining traditional Tuscan winemaking with modern techniques. They produce both red and white wines, with their portfolio including both indigenous Italian varieties and international grapes.

The Toscana IGT appellation allows winemakers greater flexibility than the stricter Chianti Classico DOCG rules, permitting the use of international grape varieties and innovative blending approaches. This classification has enabled many Tuscan producers to create wines that reflect both the region's Mediterranean climate and diverse terroir while incorporating non-traditional varieties. The designation covers the entire Tuscany region, encompassing various microclimates from coastal areas to inland hills.

Querciabella's current offering includes Batàr, a white wine blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco. This combination represents the estate's approach to working with international varieties in the Tuscan context, utilizing two grapes that can express both varietal character and regional terroir when grown in the right conditions.
