Neisson

Neisson is a family-founded distillery located on the northwestern coast of Martinique, in the French Caribbean. It produces agricole rum, a style made exclusively from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, which distinguishes Martinique's rum tradition from the majority of rum production elsewhere in the world. Martinique holds the only AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) designation for rum, a French regulatory framework that governs sugarcane varieties, harvesting methods, distillation parameters, and aging conditions.

Rhum agricole from Martinique is known for its grassy, vegetal, and floral character — a direct reflection of the fresh cane juice from which it is distilled. Neisson operates a column still and is particularly associated with high-ester, full-bodied expressions that carry notable aromatic intensity. The distillery works with a specific local sugarcane variety and has long emphasized small-batch production relative to the island's larger operations.

The Vieux Agricole in the current range represents the aged category of Martinique rum — "vieux" indicating a minimum of three years in oak, per AOC rules. These aged expressions take on additional layers of vanilla, dried fruit, and wood spice while retaining the cane-forward character that defines the agricole style.
