Michel Gaunoux operates from the prestigious Corton hill in Burgundy, France, producing red wines exclusively from Pinot Noir. The domaine focuses on some of Burgundy's most respected appellations, crafting wines from both Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards in the Côte de Beaune.

Corton, where Gaunoux sources grapes for several cuvées, represents Burgundy's largest Grand Cru appellation for red wine. The Corton hill's diverse soils and exposures create wines known for their power and aging potential, typically showing more structure than other Côte de Beaune reds. The Renardes vineyard, one of Corton's named climats, sits on the hill's eastern slope and produces wines with notable depth and complexity.
