Chateau Doisy Daene

Château Doisy Daëne is a property located in Sauternes, in the Graves region of Bordeaux. The estate produces sweet wines exclusively, working with the classic white varieties of the appellation.

Sauternes is defined by its production method and conditions: the region's microclimate near the Ciron river creates morning mists that encourage noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) on the grapes. This fungus concentrates sugars and flavors while reducing acidity, producing naturally sweet wines of considerable complexity. The appellation demands selective harvesting, often requiring multiple passes through the vineyard to pick grapes at optimal ripeness. The result is a wine with high residual sugar balanced by acidity and depth, far removed from simple sweetness.

Château Doisy Daëne works with Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, the two primary grapes of Sauternes. The estate's current range includes their cuvée L'Extravagant, available in half-bottle format, which blends these varieties to create the honeyed, concentrated character typical of the appellation.
