Tasting notes
“A cocktail cabinet without Angostura is like a kitchen without salt and pepper.” Angostura aromatic bitters add a layer of complexity, intensify the flavour of other ingredients, counteract the harshness of acidic contents and decrease the harshness of spirits. Despite its reddish-brown hue, there is an aromatic bouquet of herbs, fruits and spices. As a flavouring agent, it enhances the taste of food and drink.

About this bitters
Angostura Aromatic Bitters is a highly sought-after brand of bitters that has been in production since 1824. The brand was founded by Dr. Johann Siegert, a German doctor who moved to Venezuela in the early 19th century. Dr. Siegert created the bitters as a medicinal tonic to help treat stomach ailments, but it quickly became popular as a cocktail ingredient.
The production of Angostura Aromatic Bitters is a closely guarded secret, with only a select few people knowing the exact recipe. The bitters are made using a blend of herbs and spices, including gentian root, cinnamon, and cloves. The ingredients are macerated in alcohol for several weeks before being filtered and bottled.
Angostura Aromatic Bitters is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a wide range of cocktails, from classic drinks like the Old Fashioned and Manhattan to modern creations. The bitters add a complex, spicy flavour to cocktails, and can also be used to enhance the flavour of food. Whether you're a professional mixologist or a home bartender, Angostura Aromatic Bitters is an essential ingredient for creating delicious drinks.
