The sloping vineyards of Leistenberg are characterized mainly by clay slate soils. This dry blackish gray slate is perfect for producing wines of great elegance. This dry Riesling from this terroir therefore bears the name of this ancient rock: Tonschiefer, which translates as “clay slate”. Tonschiefer Trocken 2022 from Dönnhoff is a Riesling shaped by the slate on which it develops, with nuanced fruit aromas, a crunchy mouthfeel and racy acidity.
