This Te Koko cuvée is crafted in a style all its own and offers an alternative to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: Citrus and honey aromas unfold and harmoniously combine with exotic notes of passion fruit blossom. The creamy palate is balanced by a beautiful mineral acidity. This wine boasts excellent aromatic persistence.
This Te Koko vintage is written in a style all its own and is offered as an alternative to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: Lemon and honey aromas blossom and combine harmoniously with exotic notes of passion fruit flowers. The creamy palate is balanced by a beautiful mineral acidity. This wine offers excellent aromatic persistence.
Te Koko is arguably the wine that launched the concept of premium Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand in the 1980s—no mean feat. On the nose, this 2021 Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc leads with pink grapefruit, nashi pear, white pepper, layers of crushed shells and brine, with hints of vanilla pod and star anise. In the mouth, all of the above with additional cut fennel, suggestions of marzipan, graphite and white pepper. There is a gentle lees texture and brilliant length of flavour. Excellent wine.
Te Koko 2020 is complex and appealing, with notes of white flowers, warm hay, summer stone fruit and preserved citrus on the nose. Textured. with layers of white peach, pear and white flowers melding with mineral characters and subtle brioche notes. A freshening acidity underpins this dense and enticing palate, leading to a long and elegant finish.
Marked by scents of pencil shavings and citrus fruit on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate features a silky texture allied to bright acidity that calls to mind certain well-made Pessac-Léognan whites.
