Ramey Wine Cellars is a highly respected winery in California's Sonoma County, established in 1996 by David Ramey and his wife Carla. David Ramey is one of the pioneering figures in the California wine industry, having influenced modern winemaking techniques and styles, particularly with Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ramey Wine Cellars is renowned for its focus on producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines. The winery uses traditional and artisanal methods, including native yeast fermentations, sur lies aging, and the use of oak barrels for fermentation and maturation. This approach helps to create complex, well-balanced wines with a distinct expression of the varietal and vineyard.
The portfolio includes a variety of wines, but Ramey is particularly celebrated for its Chardonnays, which are considered among the best in California. These wines are known for their richness, depth, and elegance, often compared favorably with fine white Burgundies. Ramey also produces excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, sourcing grapes from some of the finest vineyards in regions like Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Napa Valley.
Ramey's dedication to quality and meticulous winemaking has positioned the winery as a benchmark for Californian wines, consistently earning high praise from critics and wine enthusiasts alike.
