Pintia

Pintia is the Toro project of Vega Sicilia, the storied Ribera del Duero estate. Established to explore the potential of the Toro appellation, it operates as a distinct label within the Vega Sicilia group, producing red wine from vineyards in this rugged, landlocked region of Castilla y León in northwest Spain.

Toro is known for its extreme continental climate — hot summers, cold winters, and low annual rainfall — and for its old-vine Tinta de Toro, the local clone of Tempranillo. The region's sandy soils have historically protected vines from phylloxera, meaning many plantings are ungrafted. These conditions produce wines that tend toward deep colour, concentrated fruit, and firm structure, typically with higher alcohol levels than Tempranillo expressions from cooler Spanish regions.

Pintia's wine is made from Tinta de Toro and reflects the Vega Sicilia house approach of careful viticulture and measured winemaking. The result sits within the more powerful, tannic profile characteristic of Toro, but with the polish and precision associated with its parent estate.
