Tasting notes

The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Truffière reveals notes of yellow orchard fruit, nutmeg, orange zest, honeycomb and iodine, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate that's layered and saline. This parcel tends to suffer in warm, dry vintages to such an extent that Riffault intends to increase the height of his trellising here.

About this wine

Etienne Sauzet's Puligny-Montrachet La Truffière comes from a Premier Cru parcel within this celebrated Chardonnay appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. It carries the precision and mineral drive that Puligny is built on, bottled at a restrained 13% ABV.

Expect a wine of tension and finesse rather than weight, with the citrus, saline and cream notes typical of top-flight Puligny fruit. Serve at 8-10°C with shellfish, lobster, sushi, roast chicken or a plate of truffled dishes.
