The wine shows a bright red color. Its aromatic profile reveals hints of berries and violets. On the palate, it is juicy and concentrated with velvety tannins and a very well-balanced freshness. The finish is long and pleasant with delicate spicy notes.

The Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers darker fruit than the Village Cru--blackberry and macerated strawberry, and a hint of cola in the background. The palate is quite powerful on the entry with blackcurrant pastille and raspberry, a slight bitterness developing on the tarry finish that feels a little over-extracted in the winery. Give this another couple of years and let's see if it softens ups.
