Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Lascombes has a beautiful nose of black forest cake, violets, cassis and tilled soil with wafts of garrigue and potpourri. Medium-bodied, very fine and elegant with great intensity of restrained, earthy flavors, it has a long, savory finish.
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Lascombes leaps from the glass with black raspberries, mulberries and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of earth, herbs, meats and cedar. Medium-bodied, it has plenty of juicy fruit and is fresh and plush, finishing long with a mineral lift.
The 2014 Lascombes was perplexing when I tasted it multiple times from barrel. Now in bottle, it has a generous, warm bouquet with chestnut-tinged black fruit, hints of cedar filtering through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, smooth in texture with ample blackberry and blueberry fruit, although my main criticism is lack of detail and delineation on the finish. Ergo, you don't feel enthused about returning for another sip.
An intriguing blend of 48% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, this inky purple-colored wine is ripe, progressively styled, big, rich, thick and juicy. In other words, the 2012 Lascombes is loaded. No doubt the high percentage of Merlot in the final blend gives this wine a fleshiness and succulence that is unusual in the Médoc. Rich, pure and full, it should hit its prime in another 4-5 years and last at least two or three decades.
This large, fragmented estate must be a logistical nightmare for winemakers, but the 2011, a blend of 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, exhibits a beautifully scented nose of spring flowers, black raspberries, black currants, graphite and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied and rich with supple tannins, this terrific example of Lascombes continues their qualitative revolution that began over 15 years ago. One of the stars of the vintage, this beauty can be consumed over the next 20-25 years.
Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Lascombes gives up notes of dried herbs, tilled soil and black olives over a blackcurrant cordial and plums preserves core plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers chewy tannins and bold freshness to support the savory flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.
The medium to deep garnet coloured 2009 Lascombes reveals notes of stewed plums, baked blackberries and dried mulberries with touches of sweaty leather, raisin cake and hoisin. Full-bodied with a rugged, chewy frame, the mid-palate gives a good core of earth-laced fruit, finishing a little rustic.
Another brilliant effort from this estate, the 2004 Lascombes (a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep blue/purple hue along with a sweet perfume of blueberries, black raspberries, cherries, incense, smoke, and spring flowers. While opulent, underneath the full-bodied richness of fruit and depth is a structured wine. As it sits in the glass, an espresso roast character (no doubt from new oak) also emerges. Enjoy this pure, structured, fleshy beauty between 2010-2025.

Château Lascombes is a renowned wine producer located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. The history of this estate dates back to the 17th century when it was owned by the Durfort de Duras family. In the 18th century, the estate was acquired by the Lascombes family, who gave it its current name.

The vineyards of Château Lascombes cover an area of 118 hectares, with the majority of the vines being Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The estate produces two red wines, the grand vin Château Lascombes and the second wine Chevalier de Lascombes.

The style of production at Château Lascombes is traditional, with a focus on quality and attention to detail. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before being fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak each year. The grand vin is typically aged for 18-20 months before being bottled.

Château Lascombes is known for producing rich, full-bodied wines with a deep ruby color and complex aromas of black fruit, spice, and vanilla. The wines have a firm tannic structure and a long, lingering finish. They are known for their ability to age well, with the best vintages capable of aging for several decades.

In recent years, Château Lascombes has undergone significant investment and modernization, with the construction of a new winery and the introduction of new techniques such as optical sorting. The estate has also been awarded numerous accolades, including a 100-point score from wine critic Robert Parker for the 2009 vintage of the grand vin.

Overall, Château Lascombes is a producer of exceptional Bordeaux wines that are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. With a rich history, traditional production methods, and a commitment to quality, it is no surprise that this estate ranks highly in Google searches for Bordeaux wines.
