Gaja is a renowned Italian wine producer that has been in operation since 1859. The company is based in the Piedmont region of Italy and is known for producing some of the finest wines in the world. One of their most popular wines is the Ca'marcanda, which is produced in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany.

The Ca'marcanda is a red wine that is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah grapes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a long and smooth finish.

The Camarcanda is another popular wine produced by Gaja. This wine is also made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah grapes. However, the Camarcanda is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, which gives it a more intense flavour profile. The wine has a deep ruby colour and a bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a long and complex finish.

Overall, Gaja is a producer that is known for producing high-quality wines that are rich in flavour and complexity. The Ca'marcanda and Camarcanda are two of their most popular wines, and they are both excellent choices for anyone looking for a premium Italian wine.

Clear, rich ruby. Intense and appealing nose, very pronounced with lots of blueberries and dark currants, some blood orange and some liquorice in the background. Grippy, savoury tannins, a bit grippy at the core, lots of dark berry fruit, spreads out continuously on the palate, juicy and long finish.

The Gaja family settled in Piedmont in the mid-seventeenth century. Five generations of Gaja’s have been producing wines in the Langhe hills since 1989, the year Giovanni Gaja, a local grape grower, founded the Gaja winery in Barbaresco.

Following years of dedication to uncompromising quality, the wines achieved a leadership position in Italy and the family was able to purchase vineyard holdings acquiring Sorì Tildìn, Costa Russi, Sorì San Lorenzo and Darmagi.

Angelo Gaja took over the family business in 1961 and combined his respect for the traditions of the Langhe with bold innovations in the vineyards and cellars which changed the way that wines were produced all over Italy.

Angelo lives in Barbaresco with his wife Lucia and their three children, Gaia, Rossana and Giovanni who represent the fifth generation of the family and are all involved in the business.

Today the winery owns 96 ha of vineyards in Barbaresco and Barolo. In 1994, the Gajas acquired their first estate in Tuscany, Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino. In 1996 the family purchased their second Tuscan property, Ca’ Marcanda in Bogheri.

Italy's most ancient wine region, Tuscany may not be a heavyweight in terms of quantity, but as the home of two of the country's most famous fine wines – Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino – it certainly holds its own in terms of quality. Tuscany's climate ranges from Mediterranean on the coast to continental deep in the Apennines. More than two thirds of the province is covered with hills, an important terroir factor in its fine wines.
