Rafaèl is from the Tommasi estate's oldest vineyards and has been produced in the same style since the beginning. It shows the beauty of the region in its purity of fruit and savoriness. Tart and vibrant cherries mixed with wild raspberries are on equal footing with the floral and savoury herbal aromatics that swirl in the glass. The palate is elegant with depth showing sour plum, dried tobacco leaf, turned earth and violet. This complex wine drinks well now and will continue to develop.

Tommasi is a renowned family-owned wine producer based in the Valpolicella Classico region near Verona, in the Veneto area of Italy. Established in 1902, the Tommasi family has grown over the generations to become one of the leading figures in Italian viticulture, particularly famous for their approach to Amarone production.

Tommasi is best known for their expertise in crafting Amarone della Valpolicella, a prestigious red wine made using the traditional "appassimento" method. This involves drying the harvested grapes (typically Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara) for several months before fermentation, which concentrates their flavors and sugars. The result is a rich, opulent wine characterized by deep berry flavors, plum, fig, and hints of dark chocolate, all balanced with a velvety texture and substantial tannins.

In addition to Amarone, Tommasi also produces a range of other wines including Ripasso, Valpolicella Classico, and a variety of single vineyard expressions that highlight the unique terroirs of their extensive estate holdings. Their commitment to quality extends beyond Valpolicella, with investments in other key Italian wine regions such as Tuscany and Puglia, allowing them to offer a diverse portfolio that showcases the breadth of Italian winemaking traditions.

Tommasi's dedication to excellence is reflected in their modern yet respectful approach to winemaking, combining age-old techniques with sustainable practices to ensure both the quality of their wines and the health of their vineyards for future generations. This blend of tradition and innovation makes Tommasi a distinguished and respected name in the Italian wine industry.
