This 18 year old Japanese single malt from the Hakushu distillery in Hokuto was launched in 2006 to complement the 10 and 12 year old selections. Bottled at 43% abv, this expression from the “forest distillery” is deeply fragrant with notes of fruit and hay on the nose. The palate has a soft, woody side with a rich body. Designed to taste clean and elegant with a touch of smokiness on the finish.

HAKUSHU SHOGUN

Ingredients

  • 60 ml The Hakushu - 18 yrs
  • 15 ml Matcha green tea syrup
  • 20 ml Yuzu juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Method

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Add The Hakushu - 18 yrs, matcha green tea syrup, and yuzu juice.
  3. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
  4. Double-strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass.
  5. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top.

Serve

Coupe glass, garnish with a thin yuzu peel, presented with a small bowl of matcha powder on the side for an optional dusting over the cocktail.
