Aromas of mulberries, plums, pipe tobacco and licorice introduce the 2020 La Gurgue, a medium to full-bodied, lively and fleshy wine that's open and charming, even if it concludes with just a touch more tannic bite than its 2019 counterpart. This is always among the commune's finest values.
Medium to full-bodied with silky, refined tannins. Juicy core of blackberry, cassis, and raspberry coulis. Underlying freshness from good acidity, balancing the ripe fruit Mineral and savoury finish, with lingering notes of spice and pencil lead. Drinking beautifully now with decanting (30–60 min).
A delicious wine that can already be approached with pleasure, the 2016 La Gurgue bursts with aromas of blackberries and cherries mingled with hints of licorice and violets. Medium-bodied, ample and seamless, it's a charming, enveloping wine that exhibits beautiful purity of fruit, supple structuring tannins and a nicely defined finish. It exemplifies the elegant, sensual style typical of this Sousans property.
The 2015 La Gurgue has plenty of ripe red cherry and cassis fruit on the nose, generous if perhaps not quite achieving the level of complexity of its peers at the moment. The palate is rounded on the entry with plenty of simple, plump, spice-tinged red fruit. The acidity is well-judged here, underpinning what feels like a "gentle" Margaux that should put on weight during its élevage, and then offer drinking pleasure over the following 10-15 years.

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, needs little introduction as one of the world's most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90 percent of production volume) are the dry, medium- and full-bodied red Bordeaux Blends that established its reputation.

The finest (and most expensive) of these are the wines from the great châteaux of the Haut-Médoc and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The former is focused (at the top level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter pair on on Merlot.

The legendary reds are complemented by high-quality white wines based on Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. These range from dry whites to challenge the best from the Burgundy region (Pessac-Léognan is particularly renowned) to the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.
