The Castellare di Castellina winery is a renowned producer of high-quality wines located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany, Italy. This iconic winery has a history dating back to the 9th century when it was a fortified castle used for strategic defense. In the 19th century, the castle was transformed into a winery, and in 1968, it was acquired by Paolo Panerai who modernized and expanded the estate.

The Castellare di Castellina estate covers over 80 hectares of land, with 33 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 370-450 meters above sea level, providing the perfect microclimate for grape cultivation. The vineyards are mainly planted with traditional Tuscan grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Malvasia Nera, as well as international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.

The winemaking philosophy at Castellare di Castellina is deeply rooted in tradition and terroir. The winery focuses on producing wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Chianti Classico region while also showcasing the individuality of each vineyard plot. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected before undergoing a natural fermentation process using only indigenous yeasts. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels for varying periods, depending on the wine.

Castellare di Castellina produces a range of wines, including their flagship wine, the Chianti Classico Riserva, which is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes and is aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Other notable wines from the estate include the I Sodi di San Niccolò, a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Poggio ai Merli, a single-vineyard Merlot.
