Domaine Henri Boillot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a full-bodied, balanced white Burgundy blend made with the highest quality fruit. It has notes of honey, citrus, and hazelnut, with a long, mineral finish. This Grand Cru is ideal for special occasions.
Aromas of clear honey, sweet orchard fruit and white flowers preface Boillot's 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and satiny wine with racy acids and a broad, expansive profile, concluding with a long, saline finish.
In his generation, Henri Boillot has dramatically increased the quality of his Domaine wines and created a boutique négoce listed among the very best of the region. Today, the wines, created by Henri’s talent, display such a high level of detail and complexity that it is fair to say that they are among the very best representatives of Burgundy. The Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard owned by Henri Boillot is located on the limit of Puligny-Montrachet to the North and Chassagne-Montrachet to the South. Henri Boillot calls it the Bâtard of the middle.
The bouquet opens up with sweeping flavours of apple, pear, white flowers, orange rind and light toast notes. The palate is impressively expansive yet lifted and framed in a beautiful, silky acid spine for a persistent finish. It can be paired with lobster, foie gras, roast poultry and charcuterie.
A glowing pale yellow. Super-concentrated if not yet very yielding bouquet. Extra tension here, certainly some depth, but perhaps more in class than power. That will change with time – the class with remain but the depth will expand. White fruit, tension, some youthful bitters, but keeping itself to itself for the moment. Really very long finish though.

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing well, opening in the glass to reveal aromas of pear, clear honey, buttered toast, mandarin oil and white flowers. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's rich but tightly wound, with a deep core of fruit, bright acids and a long, penetrating finish.
The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, honeycomb, white flowers, orange oil and wheat toast. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and muscular, with lively acids and an impressively structured, introverted profile for the vintage, concluding with a long, saline finish.
Boillot's 2016 is fabulously rich and smoky, with a ripe, sweet fruit and a fantastically oily, hazelnut quality. Masses of fruit here. The oak is still dominant on the nose, but not on the palate where fine, fat lemon fruit is riven with steely, mineral acidity. Long and concentrated and very young. Super-expensive stuff yes, but absolutely thrilling white, Burgundy.
The 2015 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Henri Boillot is a dramatic, powerful rendition of the 2015 vintage, offering up notes of ripe peach, tangerine oil, toasted nuts, iodine and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is glossy, textural and full-bodied, with almost chewy extract and considerable amplitude, kept in check by succulent acids. Gourmand and generous, this is a classic Bâtard-Montrachet.
The Bâtard-Montrachet 2011 from Henri Boillot was the one disappointment from what was otherwise a strong set of wines from this vintage. It does not have the complexity of Olivier Leflaive’s Bâtard with light citrus and orange-blossom aromas that seem a little static. The palate has a reductive note on the entry. The acidity is nicely judged, but there is too much SO2 masking the finish.
