Tasting notes
Bright orange in color, Aperol has a unique taste thanks to the secret recipe, which has never been changed. It infuses select ingredients including bitter and sweet oranges, rhubarb and gentian combined with herbs and roots, the true recipe is known to only a handful of people! While the ideal way to enjoy Aperol is in an Aperol Spritz, the liqueur is a complex progression of flavours and scents when consumed neat. When you hold a glass of Aperol to your nose, you’ll smell zesty orange with complex herbal scents, harmonised with a touch of vanilla. At first taste, there’s an intense orange top with herbal and woody body notes that round out to be pleasantly bittersweet and salty. Aperol feels velvety and rounded on the tongue, with lingering orange and woody notes. There’s a mild bitterness with a hint of sweetness and herbal aftertaste that lingers at the back of the mouth.

About this liqueur
Aperol is an Italian aperitif that has been enjoyed for over a century. It was first created in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers in Padua, Italy. The recipe for Aperol is a closely guarded secret, but it is known to contain bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona, among other ingredients.
Aperol is known for its bright orange color and its bittersweet taste. It is typically served in a spritz, which is a popular cocktail in Italy. To make an Aperol spritz, you simply mix Aperol with Prosecco and soda water, and garnish with a slice of orange.
Aperol has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in the UK and the US. It is often seen as a lighter alternative to Campari, another Italian aperitif. Aperol is also lower in alcohol than many other spirits, making it a popular choice for daytime drinking.
Overall, Aperol is a refreshing and versatile drink that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you're enjoying a spritz on a sunny afternoon or using it as a base for a cocktail, Aperol is sure to please.
