Laphroaig

Laphroaig is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located on the southern coast of Islay, one of Scotland's most distinctive whisky-producing islands. The distillery produces single malt whiskies that exemplify the intense, maritime character for which Islay is renowned.

Islay whiskies are distinguished by their pronounced peat smoke influence and coastal salinity, derived from the island's abundant peat bogs and exposure to Atlantic weather. Laphroaig's whiskies are particularly noted for their medicinal, iodine-like qualities and robust smoky character, created through the use of heavily peated malted barley and maturation in the island's sea-influenced climate. The current range spans from their foundational 10-year expression to rare aged bottlings, including a 30-year whisky from 1985 that represents the distillery's capacity for extended maturation.
