Domaine Féraud produces red wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley's southern section. The estate works within one of France's oldest and most strictly regulated wine appellations, established in 1936 with rules governing production methods, minimum alcohol levels, and permitted grape varieties.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is known for powerful, structured red wines built primarily on Grenache, often blended with Syrah, Cinsault, and other Mediterranean varieties. The appellation's terroir consists of large rounded stones (galets) that retain daytime heat and release it at night, creating conditions for full ripeness and concentrated flavors. Wines from the region typically show dark fruit, spice, and alcohol in the 14–15% range, with considerable aging potential.
Domaine Féraud's current offering reflects the traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape approach, combining Grenache with Syrah, Cinsault, and Clairette in their "Tradition" bottling. This blend composition is characteristic of the appellation's multi-varietal style, where producers balance the robust Grenache foundation with complementary varietals that add complexity and structure.
