The 2015 Volnay has an uncomplicated bouquet with dark cherry and briary scents, just a little straightlaced for a Volnay. The palate is medium bodied with chewy tannin. There is good weight in the mouth, quite sinewy in style, although it needs to express more Volnaysian character to merit a higher score.

The 2013 Volnay is missing a little fruit intensity on the nose and seemed a little broody on the day. The palate is medium bodied with fine tannins and more fruit expression coming through: red cherries, strawberry and touches of orange peel, the finish has fine elegance and restraint.
