Domaine Henri Boillot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a full-bodied, balanced white Burgundy blend made with the highest quality fruit. It has notes of honey, citrus, and hazelnut, with a long, mineral finish. This Grand Cru is ideal for special occasions.

Aromas of clear honey, sweet orchard fruit and white flowers preface Boillot's 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and satiny wine with racy acids and a broad, expansive profile, concluding with a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing well, opening in the glass to reveal aromas of pear, clear honey, buttered toast, mandarin oil and white flowers. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's rich but tightly wound, with a deep core of fruit, bright acids and a long, penetrating finish.

The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, honeycomb, white flowers, orange oil and wheat toast. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and muscular, with lively acids and an impressively structured, introverted profile for the vintage, concluding with a long, saline finish.

Boillot's 2016 is fabulously rich and smoky, with a ripe, sweet fruit and a fantastically oily, hazelnut quality. Masses of fruit here. The oak is still dominant on the nose, but not on the palate where fine, fat lemon fruit is riven with steely, mineral acidity. Long and concentrated and very young. Super-expensive stuff yes, but absolutely thrilling white, Burgundy.

The 2015 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Henri Boillot is a dramatic, powerful rendition of the 2015 vintage, offering up notes of ripe peach, tangerine oil, toasted nuts, iodine and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is glossy, textural and full-bodied, with almost chewy extract and considerable amplitude, kept in check by succulent acids. Gourmand and generous, this is a classic Bâtard-Montrachet.

The Bâtard-Montrachet 2011 from Henri Boillot was the one disappointment from what was otherwise a strong set of wines from this vintage. It does not have the complexity of Olivier Leflaive’s Bâtard with light citrus and orange-blossom aromas that seem a little static. The palate has a reductive note on the entry. The acidity is nicely judged, but there is too much SO2 masking the finish.

Henri-Boillot is een gerenommeerde wijnproducent uit de Bourgogne in Frankrijk. De geschiedenis van het domein gaat terug tot de 19e eeuw toen Henri Boillot, de oprichter, wijn begon te produceren in het dorp Volnay. Vandaag wordt het domein geleid door de kleinzoon van Henri, Guillaume Boillot, die de familietraditie van het produceren van uitzonderlijke wijnen heeft voortgezet.

De productiestijl van Henri-Boillot is gericht op minimale interventie en respect voor het terroir. Het domein bezit wijngaarden in enkele van de meest prestigieuze appellations in Bourgondië, waaronder Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault en Chassagne-Montrachet. De wijngaarden worden duurzaam beheerd en de druiven worden met de hand geoogst om de hoogste kwaliteit te garanderen.

Henri-Boillot staat vooral bekend om zijn witte wijnen, die tot de beste van Bourgondië worden gerekend. Het domein produceert een reeks witte wijnen, waaronder Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc en Aligoté. Pinot noir wijnen uit Bourgondië variëren in kleur van kers tot baksteen, hebben een lichte body en hebben meestal rood fruit en kruidige smaken. Gamay is een rode druif die ook aangeplant staat in Bourgondië, maar slechts 10% van de wijnstokken bestaat uit gamay.

Chardonnay is de belangrijkste druif voor witte wijnen in Bourgondië, goed voor 48% van de wijnstokken en 68% van de productie.
