Pazo de Señorans was bought in the 1970s by husband and wife team Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque. They started making wine in 1989 and were the driving force behind the creation of the Rías Baixas DO. Seen as the best winery in Gallicia, and widely regarded as the best white wine produced in Spain, the winery is now in the hands of their four children, Marisol, Vicky, Javier and Santiago.

Interview with Javier Izurieta Romero, Brand Ambassador

As one of the leading producers in Rías Baixas, what for you are the most important factors in producing quality wines?

We try to create wines that reflect the characteristics of the area and the peculiarities of Albariño. Every year we look at how we can improve our vineyard management and harvest techniques, taking special care throughout the process. We work constantly with diverse projects of research and development, and are currently studying how to improve growing Albariño using models based on both remote satellite monitoring of vineyards together with a system of site based sensors.

How would you describe your wines? 

We make honest wines, that give in the mouth what they promise on the nose and that express the maximum quality of each vintage. 

Galicia is a region located in the northwest of Spain, known for its unique and distinctive wines. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman era. The style of production in Galicia is heavily influenced by the region's cool and damp climate, which is ideal for growing grapes that produce crisp and refreshing wines.

One of the most famous wines from Galicia is Albariño, a white wine that is known for its bright acidity and citrusy flavors. This wine is made from the Albariño grape, which is grown in the Rías Baixas subregion of Galicia. Another popular wine from Galicia is Godello, a white wine that is known for its floral aromas and mineral notes. This wine is made from the Godello grape, which is grown in the Valdeorras subregion of Galicia.

In addition to white wines, Galicia is also known for its red wines, particularly those made from the Mencía grape. These wines are typically medium-bodied with flavors of red fruit and a hint of spice. The Ribeira Sacra subregion of Galicia is known for producing some of the best Mencía wines in the region.

Overall, Galicia is a region that is rich in history and tradition when it comes to winemaking. Its unique climate and terroir have allowed for the production of some of the most distinctive wines in Spain.

Rias-Baixas è una regione vinicola situata nel nord-ovest della Spagna, in particolare nella provincia di Pontevedra, nella comunità autonoma della Galizia. Questa regione è nota per la produzione di alcuni dei migliori vini bianchi della Spagna, in particolare quelli ottenuti dal vitigno Albariño.

La storia della viticoltura di Rias-Baixas risale al XII secolo, quando i monaci dell'ordine cistercense iniziarono a coltivare la vite nella zona.
