The 2022 vintage was a challenging one. Overall it was warm and dry, with high temperatures and a long summer with scarce rain. The water shortage was so severe that the Regione Piemonte issued a waiver to allow vineyard irrigation. Harvest was an early one, with grapes that revealed excellent qualities. TASTING NOTE Straw yellow with green hues, this fragrant wine offers notes of golden apple, chives, white flowers, and minerals. An elegant and well-structured wine with a long and savory finish

For over 60 years, Michele Chiarlo has been a benchmark for exceptional winemaking in the Piedmont region, crafting world-class wines that capture the essence of this storied Italian terroir. Founded in 1956, this family-run estate is renowned for producing elegant and expressive wines from some of Piedmont’s most prestigious appellations, including **Barolo**, **Barbaresco**, and **Barbera d’Asti**.

With a deep commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar, Michele Chiarlo has mastered the art of showcasing the purity and character of native Piedmontese varietals. Their **Barolo wines**, particularly from the renowned **Cerequio** and **Cannubi** vineyards, are celebrated for their complexity, balance, and longevity, offering classic notes of cherry, rose, tar, and subtle spices, supported by refined tannins and vibrant acidity.

Equally impressive are their **Barbera d’Asti** wines, which exhibit a bright fruit-forward profile with layers of red berries, plum, and earthy undertones, making them approachable yet structured. Michele Chiarlo's dedication to quality and terroir-driven wines has earned the estate a loyal following among collectors and connoisseurs, solidifying its reputation as one of Piedmont’s most esteemed producers.

Gavi is a white wine produced in the Piedmont region of Italy. The wine is made from the Cortese grape, which is known for its crisp acidity and delicate fruit flavours. Gavi has a long history, dating back to the 11th century when it was first produced by monks in the area. Today, Gavi is one of the most popular white wines in Italy and is enjoyed around the world.

The production of Gavi is strictly regulated by the Gavi DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) which ensures that the wine is made according to strict standards. The grapes must be grown in the Gavi region and the wine must be made using only Cortese grapes. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its delicate flavours and aromas.

Gavi is known for its light, crisp, and refreshing taste. The wine has a pale straw colour and aromas of green apple, lemon, and white flowers. On the palate, Gavi is dry with flavours of citrus and stone fruit. The wine has a bright acidity that makes it a perfect pairing for seafood, salads, and light pasta dishes.

Overall, Gavi is a classic Italian white wine that is perfect for any occasion. Its light and refreshing taste make it a great choice for warm summer days, while its crisp acidity makes it a perfect pairing for a variety of foods. Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or just starting to explore the world of wine, Gavi is a must-try.
