The Frescobaldi family is behind this very handsome bottle from Tuscany. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Luce is packed tight with brightness and sunshine. Compared to the family's other Brunellos made under the Castelgiocondo brand, this wine is more opulent, more concentrated and more modern or contemporary overall. It is designed to appeal to an international audience for sure and most certainly delivers the goods if you are looking for roundness, ripe fruit and thick texture. It is deliciously irresistible with bold cherry, exotic spice and tobacco. That bright acidity on the close will help the wine age carefully over the next 10 years.
The 2011 Luce (Sangiovese and Merlot) opens to an impenetrable purple-black color. This wine is almost too much of a good thing. The bouquet is syrupy and super dense with tarry aromas of pressed blackberry and dried plum followed by smoke, moist chewing tobacco and teriyaki. There's even a spot of black truffle or Pecorino cheese. The finish is chewy and rich. This was a hot vintage and it shows.
Elegant and decidedly noble in the sensory profile showing notes of sour cherries, red prunes, sweet caramel, sandalwood, roast coffee, bergamot, quinine and pressed red flowers. Medium bodied, perfectly matured tannins and a finale of incredible harmony. Class to sell!

His primary mission is the upgrading of the estate’s vineyards and the improvement of the winemaking facilities, plus research projects focusing on numerous experimental vineyards. No one was better equipped than he to bring new energy to the project that was launched in 1995, fruit of the dreams and determination of two leading figures in 20th century winemaking, Lamberto’s father Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. Today the wine estate is part of the Tenute di Toscana holding company, which in turn is controlled by Marchesi de' Frescobaldi.

Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine produced in the Tuscany region of Italy. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are grown in the hills surrounding the town of Montalcino. The wine is known for its rich, complex flavors and aromas, as well as its ability to age for many years.

The history of Brunello di Montalcino dates back to the 14th century, when the Sangiovese grape was first planted in the region. However, it was not until the mid-19th century that the wine began to gain recognition outside of the local area. In 1888, the first Brunello di Montalcino was bottled by Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, a local winemaker who is credited with creating the modern style of the wine.

Today, Brunello di Montalcino is produced by a number of different wineries in the region, each with their own unique style and approach. Some of the most well-known producers include Biondi-Santi, Il Poggione, and Banfi.

The production process for Brunello di Montalcino is highly regulated, with strict rules governing everything from the grape varieties used to the aging process. The grapes must be harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years. After this initial aging period, the wine is then aged in the bottle for an additional four months before being released for sale.

The resulting wine is a deep ruby red color, with aromas of red fruit, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with flavors of cherry, plum, and spice. The tannins are firm and well-structured, giving the wine a long, lingering finish.
