Castello di Radda - Vigna il Corno - Gran Selezione - Chianti Classico DOCG

Castello di Radda makes Vigna il Corno as a Gran Selezione, the top tier of the Chianti Classico DOCG in Tuscany. It is pure Sangiovese, a red built for the table rather than the aperitif.

The nose offers sour cherry, dried violet and a trace of tobacco leaf, with grilled herb and blue flower behind. The palate is generous yet taut: ripe red fruit, firm, fine-grained tannins and the bright acidity that defines Sangiovese. The finish is savoury, earthy and long.

Sangiovese is the only grape here, and it speaks plainly. Chianti Classico brings structure, freshness and a savoury edge. The result is polished rather than heavy, with the poise to evolve with time.

It suits beef and grilled meats straight off the barbecue, where the tannins and acidity cut through the char. Equally, pair it with mushroom pasta, tomato-based sauces or a plate of Parmesan.
