The 2018 Chardonnay has pretty scents of dried leaves, hay and almonds with underlying spicy notes and a core of honeyed white peaches. Medium-bodied, the palate is silky in texture with savoury, spicy character, seamless freshness, and a long finish.

The 2016 Chardonnay features a wonderfully spicy nose of nutmeg, ginger ale and coriander seed with a core of Bosc pears, ripe nectarines and applesauce. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic freshness with a zippy acid line lifting all those fantastic spices to a good long finish. 5,390 cases were made.

The 2015 Chardonnay simply sings of honeyed peaches, spiced pears, and pink grapefruit with hints of honeycomb, brioche and chopped cashews. Full-bodied, wonderfully flashy and decadent, it fills the palate with spicy stone fruits, offset by a racy backbone and finishes long and creamy.

Californië is een regio die bekend staat om zijn wijnproductie. De staat heeft een lange geschiedenis van wijnproductie, die teruggaat tot de 18e eeuw toen Spaanse missionarissen voor het eerst wijnstokken aanplantten in het gebied. Vandaag de dag is Californië de thuisbasis van enkele van de beroemdste wijnproducenten ter wereld, waaronder Napa Valley en Sonoma County.

Een van de bekendste wijnproducenten in Californië is Robert Mondavi Winery. Het wijnhuis is opgericht in 1966, ligt in het hart van Napa Valley en staat bekend om zijn Cabernet Sauvignon en Chardonnay van hoge kwaliteit. Robert Mondavi Winery staat ook bekend om zijn toewijding aan duurzaamheid en het gebruik van milieuvriendelijke praktijken in de wijngaarden en bij de wijnproductie.

Een andere beroemde wijnproducent in Californië is Opus One Winery. Opus One werd in 1979 opgericht door Robert Mondavi en Baron Philippe de Rothschild, ligt in Napa Valley en staat bekend om zijn Bordeaux-achtige blends. Het wijnhuis gebruikt een combinatie van traditionele en moderne vinificatietechnieken om zijn wijnen van hoge kwaliteit te produceren.

Naast deze beroemde wijnproducenten zijn er in Californië ook een aantal kleinere boetiekwijnmakerijen. Een van die wijnmakerijen is Kistler Vineyards, gelegen in Sonoma County. Kistler Vineyards staat bekend om zijn Chardonnay en Pinot Noir, die worden gemaakt met behulp van traditionele vinificatietechnieken en gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten.

Op het gebied van sterke dranken is Californië ook de thuisbasis van een aantal beroemde distilleerderijen. Een van die distilleerderijen is St. George Spirits in Alameda. St. George Spirits staat bekend om zijn ambachtelijke sterke dranken, waaronder gin, wodka en absint. De distilleerderij maakt gebruik van een combinatie van traditionele en moderne technieken om zijn sterke dranken van hoge kwaliteit te produceren.

Een andere beroemde distilleerderij in Californië is Anchor Distilling Company, gevestigd in San Francisco. Anchor Distilling Company staat bekend om zijn Old Potrero Rye Whiskey, die wordt gemaakt op traditionele wijze en gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten. De distilleerderij produceert ook een aantal andere sterke dranken, waaronder gin, wodka en rum.
