The wine has a pale yellow color and has aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and peaches. On the palate, it is crisp and clean, with flavors of green apple, honeydew melon, and citrus fruits. This wine is perfect for seafood dishes and grilled vegetables or enjoyed alone as an aperitif. Overall, Pazo Señorans Albariño Rias Baixas is a delicious and elegant wine that showcases the unique terroir of the Rias Baixas region of Spain.
The very young and faintly reductive 2021 Albariño, it’s austere, sharp and vibrant, and the back label specifies one to three years, which to me is not its drinking window but the time you should wait before pulling the cork... It's quite shy and austere, like sea breeze and spring water. It should develop further complexity with age. This has to be one of the most elegant and ethereal vintages for this wine.
The 2020 Albariño is only starting to show a little complexity in a very complete year of good ripeness and balance. There is great purity and elegance here. It comes though as very balanced and clean.
The flagship 2019 Albariño is young, fresh and fruit-driven, quite similar from vintage to vintage, a little reductive when so young, but with varietal notes of white fruit and flowers, freshly cut grass and a citrus touch. The palate is harmonious and tender, with good volume and freshness, finishing dry.
With a collection of apple blossom, acacia, peach and flint aromas, this fairly full-bodied Albariño offers a mix of plumpness and alluring flavours, namely nectarine, apple and white peach. Complex notes of sea brine, minerality and saline propel a sophisticated finish.
The regular 2017 Albariño is sold early with primary aromas and flavors and good structure that should allow it to age nicely in bottle. 2017 saw a very early harvest, low yields and concentrated wines. This was bottled without malolactic, after four to five months with the lees. This is young and fresh, clean and open, with aromas of white flowers and freshly cut grass complicated by hints of bay leaf. The palate is fresh and tasty, ending with a salty sensation.

Pazo de Señorans was bought in the 1970s by husband and wife team Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque. They started making wine in 1989 and were the driving force behind the creation of the Rías Baixas DO. Seen as the best winery in Gallicia, and widely regarded as the best white wine produced in Spain, the winery is now in the hands of their four children, Marisol, Vicky, Javier and Santiago.

Interview with Javier Izurieta Romero, Brand Ambassador

As one of the leading producers in Rías Baixas, what for you are the most important factors in producing quality wines?

We try to create wines that reflect the characteristics of the area and the peculiarities of Albariño. Every year we look at how we can improve our vineyard management and harvest techniques, taking special care throughout the process. We work constantly with diverse projects of research and development, and are currently studying how to improve growing Albariño using models based on both remote satellite monitoring of vineyards together with a system of site based sensors.

How would you describe your wines?

We make honest wines, that give in the mouth what they promise on the nose and that express the maximum quality of each vintage.

Galicia is a region located in the northwest of Spain, known for its unique and distinctive wines. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman era. The style of production in Galicia is heavily influenced by the region's cool and damp climate, which is ideal for growing grapes that produce crisp and refreshing wines.

One of the most famous wines from Galicia is Albariño, a white wine that is known for its bright acidity and citrusy flavors. This wine is made from the Albariño grape, which is grown in the Rías Baixas subregion of Galicia. Another popular wine from Galicia is Godello, a white wine that is known for its floral aromas and mineral notes. This wine is made from the Godello grape, which is grown in the Valdeorras subregion of Galicia.

In addition to white wines, Galicia is also known for its red wines, particularly those made from the Mencía grape. These wines are typically medium-bodied with flavors of red fruit and a hint of spice. The Ribeira Sacra subregion of Galicia is known for producing some of the best Mencía wines in the region.

Overall, Galicia is a region that is rich in history and tradition when it comes to winemaking. Its unique climate and terroir have allowed for the production of some of the most distinctive wines in Spain.

Rias-Baixas

Rias Baixas

Rias-Baixas is a wine region located in the northwest of Spain, specifically in the province of Pontevedra, in the autonomous community of Galicia. This region is known for...
