The Leroy 2006 Vosne-Romanee Aux Genaivrieres smells darkly of blackberry, mossy forest floor, roasted meat, and decadent floral perfume. In terms of fruit freshness, though, this is bright, while also displaying a hint of tannic grit. Its lingering finish returns to the dark side, with intriguing intimations of future complexity, though only time, I think, will reveal how this wine's tannins are resolved.

La chardonnay es la uva principal de los vinos blancos de Borgoña, con un 48% de las viñas y un 68% de la producción. La chardonnay aprecia el suelo de marga de Borgoña, que le confiere delicados aromas florales, frutales y minerales y sabores con cuerpo. La aligoté es la segunda uva blanca, con un 6% de producción. {Más información sobre la antigua uva Aligoté en Borgoña.}

Vosne-Romanee is a small commune located in the Cote de Nuits region of Burgundy, France. This region is known for producing some of the world's finest Pinot Noir wines, and Vosne-Romanee is no exception. The vineyards in this area are situated on a slope that faces east, which allows for optimal sun exposure and drainage. The soil in Vosne-Romanee is rich in limestone and clay, which gives the wines produced here a unique minerality and complexity.

The history of winemaking in Vosne-Romanee dates back to the Roman era, when the area was known for producing high-quality wines. However, it wasn't until the 19th century that the wines from this region gained international recognition. This was largely due to the efforts of the legendary winemaker Henri Jayer, who was instrumental in elevating the status of Vosne-Romanee wines.

Today, Vosne-Romanee is home to some of the most prestigious wineries in Burgundy, including Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, which produces some of the most sought-after wines in the world. Other notable producers in the area include Domaine Leroy, Domaine Meo-Camuzet, and Domaine Hudelot-Noellat.

The wines produced in Vosne-Romanee are known for their elegance, complexity, and finesse. They are typically medium-bodied, with aromas of red fruit, spice, and earth. The tannins in these wines are firm but silky, and they have a long, lingering finish. The most famous wine produced in Vosne-Romanee is the Grand Cru La Tache, which is considered by many to be one of the greatest wines in the world.

In addition to Pinot Noir, Vosne-Romanee also produces a small amount of white wine from the Chardonnay grape. These wines are typically rich and full-bodied, with notes of citrus, honey, and toast.

Overall, Vosne-Romanee is a must-visit destination for any wine lover. The wines produced here are some of the finest in the world, and the history and tradition of winemaking in this region is truly remarkable. Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, a bottle of Vosne-Romanee is sure to impress.
