Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château, the 2011 Brane-Cantenac is a blend of 37% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 56.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and a pinch of Carmenère. It has a more attractive bouquet than the 2012, demonstrating more complexity and fruit intensity: blackberry and raspberry, a touch of cedar and tobacco thrown into the mix. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, the oak beautifully interwoven into the brambly red berry fruit, gently building with a hint of spice and dry tobacco on the finish. There is just a tad more substance than the 2012, yet it remains elegant, and given the vintage it is sophisticated compared to others this vintage. Tasted April 2015.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Brane-Cantenac starts off a tad restrained and reluctant to show, opening out to notes of baked blackberries, plum preserves and crème de cassis with hints of cigar box and tar. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wearing a lot of muscular fruit with firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with great length. Needs time!
It has a beautifully defined, very detailed bouquet with mineral-rich black fruit laced with cedar and graphite notes, living up to its nom de plume as the "Pauillac of Margaux." The palate is simply the best that I have ever tasted at the estate, without question. This has presence, but also weightlessness, filigree tannin and perfectly pitched acidity, with real intensity and drive. The tension here is outstanding and the persistence is incredibly long. It is not the showiest of all the 2016s by a long stretch, and yet it is everything you could possibly want from a Margaux. Like Beychevelle this year, the 2016 Brane-Cantenac puts recent vintages in the shade, thanks not only to the growing season, but also a new punching down system in their gravity-fed winery that was completed in 2015. The 2016 is a benchmark against which future vintages will be compared.
The 2015 Brane-Cantenac is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of crushed black berries and chocolate-covered cherries with touches of fried herbs and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, refreshing and elegant in the mouth, with chewy tannins, it has an herbal lift on the finish.
A rather firmly structured, masculine style of wine in 2012, with a dense, opaque ruby/purple color. The wine reveals a certain angularity, with hard tannin, but medium body and excellent purity. This is certainly a very good 2012 that should age nicely for 12-15 years.
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Brane-Cantenac features bold scents of redcurrant jelly, kirsch and cassis plus nuances of forest floor, tree bark, fungi and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has bags of bright, energetic fruit with a grainy texture and tons of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Brane-Cantenac displays notes of warm red and black plums, Morello cherries and mulberries with hints of spice cake and earth. Medium-bodied, elegant, soft and fleshy, it delivers a lively line of freshness and an earthy finish.

Château Brane-Cantenac is a renowned wine producer located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when it was owned by the wealthy Gorce family. In 1833, the estate was purchased by Baron Hector de Brane, who was known for his innovative winemaking techniques and his passion for producing high-quality wines.

Today, Château Brane-Cantenac is owned by Henri Lurton, who has continued the tradition of producing exceptional wines. The estate covers 75 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The vineyards are situated on gravelly soils, which are ideal for producing wines with great structure and complexity.

The winemaking process at Château Brane-Cantenac is a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before being fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months, depending on the vintage.

Château Brane-Cantenac produces a range of wines, including its flagship wine, the Château Brane-Cantenac Grand Vin. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, and is known for its elegance, complexity, and aging potential. The estate also produces a second wine, Baron de Brane, which is made from younger vines and is designed to be enjoyed in its youth.

In addition to its red wines, Château Brane-Cantenac also produces a white wine, Le Blanc de Brane. This wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes and is fermented and aged in oak barrels. The wine is known for its freshness, minerality, and citrus aromas.

Overall, Château Brane-Cantenac is a producer of exceptional wines that are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world. Its rich history, commitment to quality, and innovative winemaking techniques have made it one of the most respected wine producers in Bordeaux.
