Chateau Lafleur is a prestigious wine producer located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. Considered to be one of the most sought-after and highly regarded estates in the world, Chateau Lafleur has a rich history and a reputation for producing exceptional wines.

The estate was established in the early 19th century, but it wasn't until the late 19th century when it was acquired by the Guinaudeau family that it began to make a name for itself. The family has been involved in the production of wine for several generations, and their dedication to quality and tradition is evident in every bottle of Chateau Lafleur.

The vineyards of Chateau Lafleur cover a total of 4.5 hectares and are situated on the famous gravel and clay soils of Pomerol. This unique terroir, combined with meticulous vineyard management and low-yield practices, results in wines with a distinct character and exceptional complexity.

Chateau Lafleur is best known for its single varietal wine made from 100% Merlot grapes, which is a rarity in the region where most wines are blends. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing a traditional vinification process. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a wine that is both elegant and powerful.

The wines of Chateau Lafleur are highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs, with prices often reaching astronomical levels. This is due to the limited production, with only around 1,000 cases of the Grand Vin being produced each year.

In addition to their iconic Grand Vin, Chateau Lafleur also produces a second wine, Les Pensees de Lafleur, which offers a more affordable option for those looking to experience the quality of this renowned estate.

At Onshore Cellars, we are proud to offer a selection of Chateau Lafleur wines to our customers.

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, needs little introduction as one of the world's most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90 percent of production volume) are the dry, medium- and full-bodied red Bordeaux Blends that established its reputation.

The finest (and most expensive) of these are the wines from the great châteaux of the Haut-Médoc and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The former is focused (at the top level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter pair on on Merlot.

The legendary reds are complemented by high-quality white wines based on Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. These range from dry whites to challenge the best from the Burgundy region (Pessac-Léognan is particularly renowned) to the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.
